Uses of Networks

There are two types of connectivity options used primarily worldwide.
They are:

1.Connection oriented: connection is established before transferring the data (packets) by setting up virtual links between nodes through a network. This method is often called a "reliable" network service. It can guarantee that data will arrive in the same order.

Protocols preferred: TCP/IP.

2.Connectionless Service:This type of connectivity does not require a session connection between sender and receiver. The sender simply starts sending data to the destination. No guarantee that the transmitted data(datagram’s) sent will be received by the user therefore, there is no “reliability” factor present here.

Protocols preferred: UDP
